    Least concerned with:
Productivity from the C position will offset the drop in production @ 2B
    OF defense will be stellar
DH spot should produce above average numbers
Offense will score more than 800 runs

    Biggest concerns:
    Teixeira’s productivity
    Defense @ 3B
    Sabathia’s command

BU guys have been very impressive in the small samples we have seen.

    Does that translate ?

Most likely not but you never know.

    I’m out.

    Catch you all later.

  4. Chip March 27th, 2014 at 9:08 am

Logic suggests that they’ll go with a bench of Ichiro, Cervelli, Anna and Nunez. It just doesn’t make sense to have to DFA someone to get Solarte or Wheeler on the 40 so that they can sit on the bench for a few days until Ryan is healthy.

My guess for the pen is:

RHP: Robertson, Betances, Phelps, Warren, Kelley
    LHP: Thornton, Cabral

Yankees cuts: Claiborne, Almonte, Miller, Herndon, Tateyama, Sizemore, Canzler, Lewis, Leroux.

Ellsbury will play in games tomorrow & Saturday, but they could be minor league games in case there’s a setback so Yankees can backdate DL

Prudent but concerning that they are even thinking about a setback.

Bullpen candidates still in camp: Betances, Burawa, Cabral, Daley, Greene and Nuno. Room for two (Phelps and Warren are in).

  9. Chip March 27th, 2014 at 9:18 am

    Country Club –

    I’m guessing Betances and Cabral

  10. Tackelberry March 27th, 2014 at 9:18 am

Betances and Cabral take the last 2 spots I think.

Nah, makes perfect sense. They would get shredded if they played him in a majors game and he re-aggravated it and had to go on the DL for 2 weeks.

  12. CountryClub March 27th, 2014 at 9:20 am

I agree with you guys…Betances for sure. And probably Cabral. I think Burawa has an outside shot still.

  13. Tackelberry March 27th, 2014 at 9:20 am

Glad to hear that Montgomery has added a changeup to his arsenal. His fastball is only 90-91, and he needs another pitch besides his slider to keep hitters honest. Hope it cntinues to develop.

  14. Tackelberry March 27th, 2014 at 9:23 am

Burawa hasn’t pitched above AA which would seem to hurt his chances over Betances or Cabral. Greene is gonna be a starter for AAA, Daley is a fringy righty. NUno is more suited for spot starting or long releife and with both Phelps and Warren on the roster, he gets squeezed out.

  15. Tackelberry March 27th, 2014 at 9:24 am

Sizemore looks like the best defender of the group of BU infielders. If his knee were 100%, I bet he’d make the team over NUnez. When is his opt out?

  16. CountryClub March 27th, 2014 at 9:25 am

The first one is May 1st. So they have some time.

The thing is, his FB was 92 – 94 two seasons ago. That velocity was really helping his slider. It went backwards last yr and nobody seems to know why. It was even lower that 90 last yr.

Is have J ram in the big leagues very soon if he stays healthy and pitches well…..he would need more development to start…..but as a reliever he can go right now if healthy

I would go with Betances and Cabral to fill out the last two spots. Third choice being Nuno. I think the team is already set with long relievers in Phelps and Warren so I don’t think they need a third. It would also be nice to have Nuno stretched out in AAA ready to pick up a spot start when necessary. The only reason I could see Joe taking Nuno is if he’s worried about Cabral’s control. Nuno doesn’t really walk anyone and Cabral has shown some issues in that regard

That is why Kahnle was wasted (and it doesn’t look like he’s coming back) and Whitley will be stretched out: because the Pod People have Jo-Ram now in their vice-like grip.

  29. pkyankfan69 March 27th, 2014 at 10:13 am

Really enjoyed watching Burawa this spring… Sending him down makes sense though… I’m sure they told him they loved what he did this spring and if he continues throwing strikes in the minors he’ll be on the big club later this season. With his stuff, if he’s locating, he’s with out a doubt a back end arm

    Colorado Bullpen:

Tommy Kahnle vs. Chad Bettis vs. Chris Martin.

    Current leaders- Kahnle and Bettis*

*- Franklin Morales takes this roster spot if Lyles makes the rotation

…….he just may not be coming back.

Some companies make them with steel toes, although they’re not standard.
