Why would you sit your $22M CF?

  2. Poetkiosk April 3rd, 2014 at 4:49 pm

Ellsbury is struggling and coming off an injury

  3. Mottsx April 3rd, 2014 at 4:50 pm

Right and they’re going to turf the next 3 games… sit him this weekend.

  4. Poetkiosk April 3rd, 2014 at 4:52 pm

    They just might

  5. Shame Spencer April 3rd, 2014 at 4:56 pm

This is exactly what I was thinking.

Guess clueless Joe is throwing in the towel for this game. Already resting people in the third game of the year

  8. Poetkiosk April 3rd, 2014 at 5:01 pm

Well overall I don’t totally get sitting anyone. It’s the 3rd game of the season how is anyone tired?

Joe does it all the time. It is uncanny

When you see a lineup like this, you really have to wonder how healthy Ellsbury is. I know Ichiro hits lefties well but you are starting two lefties in the OF against a left-handed pitcher ahead of Ellsbury. And this is the guy you spent the money on.

Please if he’s not healthy, just DL him. As Monk would say, “you’ll thank me later.”

  11. mick April 3rd, 2014 at 5:07 pm

    WOW Joe!
    Shake it up…

  12. austinmac April 3rd, 2014 at 5:14 pm

    Dan,

    I love Monk. I often say “It’s a blessing and it’s a curse”.

  13. Poetkiosk April 3rd, 2014 at 5:17 pm

McCann I get since its a quick turnaround.

Shouldn’t Johnson be getting as much practice as possible at 3rd?

And if Ells is hurt than why did he even break camp? to suck for two games and help us lose?

Yep. Shalhoub and crew created a great character. The mentally defective genius. You know it was supposed to be Michael Richards. Glad it worked out like it did. I love when he’s real wife is a guest.

They brought Ibanez in to be a bench bat/part time DH and he still started in the OF by the third game of 2012. Joe just plays everyone.

I assume this lineup is going to score some runs as we have our best bat, Francisco Cervelli, in the lineup now.

  16. blake April 3rd, 2014 at 5:23 pm

@jonmorosi: Jose Abreu doesn’t seem bothered by the high expectations, does he? Hitting in a big way for White Sox, even in chilly weather.

Good thing we had Tex so we didn’t need him

  17. blake April 3rd, 2014 at 5:24 pm

    They’ll score 8 runs tonight

  18. Jerkface April 3rd, 2014 at 5:25 pm

Shouldn’t Johnson be getting as much practice as possible at 3rd?

Naw, and certainly not vs lefties. They should just be looking to replace him at third with a real player tbh.

  19. Poetkiosk April 3rd, 2014 at 5:27 pm

So is Johnson in a platoon with Solarte?

  20. Poetkiosk April 3rd, 2014 at 5:28 pm

So if they score does Joe then sit this lineup the next day? Makes no sense

  21. Jerkface April 3rd, 2014 at 5:28 pm

So is Johnson in a platoon with Solarte?

He should be, yes. He is a platoon bat. Johnson is a valuable platoon hitter on the bench vs right handers. He isn’t a real starter.

  22. Jerkface April 3rd, 2014 at 5:30 pm

I don’t know if Jose Abreu is going to hit the whole season, but he has displayed some nasty power already in the 3 games he has played. He has hit a ball off the wall in every game he has played in, and hit like 2 off the wall today in cold weather.

Looks like a pretty good hitter.

  23. MTU April 3rd, 2014 at 5:32 pm

Cespedes said that Abreu had every tool but speed.

    ;)

  24. MTU April 3rd, 2014 at 5:37 pm

Why should we about Cubans like Chapman, Cespedes, Soler, Puig, etc.

    We have our Adonis.

    :)

  25. mick April 3rd, 2014 at 5:39 pm

Kay finds something to complain about. Ells is an everyday player he says.
They are obviously nursing him, give it a break…

  26. MTU April 3rd, 2014 at 5:42 pm

    ed: should we care. sorry.

Johnson actually has better splits vs lefties. A trend I do not expect to continue as a me,ber of the Yankees.

I did chuckle when Joe PH for him last night.

  29. NOLAyankee April 3rd, 2014 at 6:26 pm

Holy crap – we have Ichiro Suzuki on our team? He hasn’t batted yet WHY exactly???

  30. NOLAyankee April 3rd, 2014 at 6:27 pm

That was sarcastic BTW. Any why not DH McCann?

High fashion ladies’ bags are very adaptable. Some are good for day use, and others are good for evening use. Some are just right for informal events, and others for formal affairs.
