WEATHER: The skies have cleared up a bit, but it’s still pretty chilly. They’re saying 54 degrees, with temps dropping throughout the game.
UMPIRES: HP Bill Welke, 1B Dan Iassogna, 2B CB Bucknor, 3B Hal Gibson
LATE SCRATCH: Yangervis Solarte was a late scratch from the lineup due to a sore right shoulder. He’s been replaced at second base by Brian Roberts.
STRIKEOUT STUFF: Yankees pitchers have recorded at least 10 strikeouts in three consecutive games for the second time this season. They have not recorded 10 or more in four straight games since September of 2012.
A THOUSAND HERE, A THOUSAND THERE: Entering tonight’s game, Alfonso Soriano has 992 career hits in the AL and 1,077 career hits in the NL. With eight more hits, he’ll become the seventh player all-time with at least 1,000 hits in each league.

UPDATE, 9:04 p.m.: We have a pitchers’ duel on our hands through three innings. Tanaka has been good, although he’s already exceeded his previous season total with three walks, but Richards has been even better. He has four strikeouts to Tanaka’s five, but he’s been a bit more economical with 40 pitches (Tanaka is at 50). Still scoreless.
UPDATE, 9:23 p.m.: The Angels got a run in the fourth as Tanaka continues to put men on, but he limited the damage after loading the bases with one out. He’s allowed three hits and an uncharacteristic four walks, but has seven strikeouts. 1-0 Angels.
UPDATE, 9:57 p.m.: Tie ballgame. Tex walked, Roberts doubled to move him to third, and then he scored on Ichiro’s 6-3 ground out. 1-1 with Tanaka coming out for the sixth at 90 pitches.
UPDATE, 10:22 p.m.: Tanaka gave up a solo homer to Freese in the sixth to put the Angels ahead 2-1. He faced one batter in the seventh and picked up his 11th strikeout before being pulled in favor of Adam Warren.
UPDATE, 10:40 p.m.: Tex ties the game with a blast into the right field seats to lead off the bottom of the seventh. 2-2.
