TIME/TV: 1:05 p.m., YES Network

WEATHER: It’s cloudy, but the temperature is perfect (mid 70s). The forecast calls for just a 10 percent chance of showers.

UMPIRES: HP Paul Nauert, 1B Angel Hernandez, 2B Adrian Johnson, 3B Larry Vanover

B-MAC IN THE BRONX: Brandon McCarthy will make his first start at Yankee Stadium since the team acquired him earlier this month from the Diamondbacks. McCarthy threw 6.2 innings in Cleveland on July 9 in his Yankee debut. He allowed nine hits, walked none and surrendered four runs, although only one was earned.

IS THIS STAT AN ERROR?: Weird. The Yankees are 3-1 in their last four when committing at least three errors, a feat they accomplished again last night. They also beat Tampa on April 20 and the Angels last Aug. 13 on error-prone days.

UPDATE, 1:57 p.m.: McCarthy’s home Yankee debut has been better than imagined so far. He’s just burying sinkers on hitters. His velocity has been 91-94, and he even touched 95 on the strikeout of Billy Hamilton.

UPDATE, 2:03 p.m.: Through four, here’s McCarthy’s line: 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K. 56 pitches, 39 strikes.

UPDATE, 2:53 p.m.: McCarthy was one bad pitch from allowing the Reds to tie it up. Instead, he struck out Pena with high heat, giving him 9 Ks through six. That might be it. If it is, it’s a strong Bronx debut for McCarthy.
