Rumor mill: Jon Heyman (no relation) has a story out now on saying the Yankees, in a bid for offensive help, are thinking about Josh Willingham as a two-month rental, and he mentions Marlon Byrd and Alex Rios as well.  Any preference? The nonwaiver trade deadline is Thursday.


Update, 1:15: Jays up 1-0. With runners at second and third and no outs, McCann got the sure out at first on Jose Bautista’s bouncer. No replay of yesterday’s seventh inning.

Update, 1:26: Happ gets three straight outfield outs.

Update, 1:35: The Jays aren’t getting the ball in the air so far, outside of Melky’s line double to right in the first. Greene gave up an infield hit in the second, but got a double-play ball out of Juan Francisco to end the inning.

Update, 1:47: Beltran drew a leadoff walk, but then three straight outs. The Yankees will look for their first hit in the third.

Update, 1:54: 1-2-3 third for Greene, two balls on the ground sandwiched around a swinging strikeout of Reyes.

Update, 1:59: The Yankees get their first hit. Wheeler lines a single into right to start the third.

Update, 2:01: Kawasaki makes a nice catch going back into shallow right with his back to the plate, and he doubles Wheeler off first.

Update, 2:18: Kawasaki singles to right after two two-out walks, but Wheeler nails Johnson at the plate to end the inning.

Update, 2:25: Another dull half inning for the Yankees with a bat in their hands. Jeter, Ellsbury, Beltran go down in order. The Yankees have one hit and trail 1-0 after four.

Update, 2:29: Francisco hits one to the second deck in right, 2-0 Jays.

Update, 2:39: Headley hits his first Yankees homer, drive to left. Then Cervelli follows with his first of the season, 2-2.

Update, 2:50: One out, runner on first in the top of the sixth. Huff is warming. Greene is at 84 pitches.

Update, 2:53: Rasmus RBI double, 3-2 Jays. Greene is done after 5 1/3. Huff comes on.

Update, 3:13: Cecil comes on for Happ with runners at first and second and one out in the sixth.

Update, 3:18: RBI single for McCann when Kawasaki’s bounced throw can’t be handled at first. 3-3, heading for the seventh.

Update, 3:25: Betances will try to clean up Huff’s mess, first and second, no outs after two singles.

Update, 3:30: Bases loaded, one out for Navarro after Bautista gets intentional walk.

Update, 3:33: McCann comes home with the ball and he gets the force.

Update, 3:37: Betances fell behind 3-1 on Johnson, then got him on a full count to fly to left and keep it tied. Aaron Sanchez on to pitch for the Jays.

Update, 3:47: Yankees go down 1-2-3, have just five hits through seven.

Update, 3:51: Rasmus leadoff walk, then Betances wild pickoff throw moves him to third with no outs.

Update, 3:53: Kawasaki sac fly to left, 4-3 Toronto.

Update, 3:55: Warren replaces Betances with two outs and nobody on.

Update, 4:03: Leadoff single by Gardner snapped an 0-for-12 skid. Jeter bunts him over.

Update, 4:07: Beltran clutch two-out RBI single to left, 4-4.

Update, 4:09: Robertson on for the ninth.

Update, 4:21: Robertson gives up an RBI single to Navarro, Jays take the yet lead.

Update, 4:22: Janssen on to try to close it out.

Update, 4:31: The Yankees go down 1-2-3, lose 5-4.
