Yankees optimistic about Phelps’ elbow

PhelpsThe soreness in David Phelps’ elbow is near the triceps, and the Yankees are confident it’s not a ligament issue.

Phelps said he has been dealing with soreness for several weeks and actually had an MRI at one point. It came back clean. Phelps said the muscle usually loosens up as he’s pitching, but it just didn’t get loose tonight.

For whatever it’s worth, Phelps sounds far more disappointed than concerned. Doesn’t sound like a guy who’s worried he might be heading for surgery or anything like that.
