There will be no shortage of prospect rankings this offseason. There never is. And if you start to look around, you’ll find that different lists place different values on different things. Some prefer upside. Some love proximity to the majors. Some lean on scouting. Some favor analytics. Some seem to go on a hunch and not much else.

None should be considered perfect, and each is really just a rough guide to the top names in the system. Rarely is there universal agreement, and rarely does moving up or down a few spots mean much of anything.

For several reasons — longevity, name recognition, and connections within the industry are surely among them — Baseball America’s rankings always get more attention than most. BA announced it’s Yankees Top 10 list this morning, and Josh Norris is going to chat about the system this afternoon. I’ll post more as I get a chance to digest it a little bit, but here are Baseball America’s choices for the top prospects in the Yankees’ system.

Injuries (Ian Clarkin, Eric Jagielo, Luis Torrens) and players graduating to the big leagues (Luis Severino, Greg Bird) have opened the door to quite a bit of turnover this offseason.

1. Jorge Mateo, SS
2. Gary Sanchez, C
3. Aaron Judge, OF
4. James Kaprielian, RHP
5. Domingo Acevedo, RHP
6. Rookie Davis, RHP
7. Tyler Wade, SS
8. Rob Refsnyder, 2B
9. Wilkerman Garcia, SS
10. Dustin Fowler, OF
